Boost the metabolism with these 11 habits!

If you want to improve your own health or lose weight you need to pay attention on your metabolism. Metabolism has a great influence on how the body cells are supplied with nutrients and energy. Metabolic dysfunction most often causes excess weight.

There is a list of good habits that can help you speed up the metabolism.

So let’s get fit and healthy!

1. Schedule the meals
Our bodies are very smart. They expect to be fed at a certain time, and so they use most of the energy by this time, knowing that they will receive more energy soon. But if our meal schedule is irregular, our bodies store the energy instead of using it, because they are not sure if they are getting any new energy soon. Eating every 3-4 hours will help our bodies to use all of the energy.

2. You should drink more liquids
Sufficient fluid intake contributes to good metabolism. When the body is deprived of water, it burns less calories. Also, the liver is concentrating on restoring the water supply and it not paying much attention to burning fat. That’s why you should drink more liquids! If you are not drinking a lot of water, drink tea. The green tea is great when you need to meet the daily hydration needs.

3. Dairy is your friend
Dairy contains a lot of nutrients that are essential for burning the fat and building the muscle. For example, the calcium which is contained in dairy plays an important role in the metabolism. The more calcium is contained in the fatty cells, the more fat is going to be burned.

4. Be physically active
Any kind of physical activity, such as jogging, walking, exercising in a gym, or dancing, contributes to a faster metabolism. Strength exercises are best, as they promote faster growth of the muscular tissue. The muscles require energy even when we are resting. That’s why the best way to speed up the metabolism is to do the resistance exercises regularly.

5. Wake up early
Sunlight has also big impact on the metabolism. The morning sun helps the body regulate those biological processes that depend on the alteration of day and night, which, in turn, are vital to the energy consumption.

6. Don’t cut out the carbs
Don’t overburden yourself with the diets that lead to neglecting of the carbohydrates completely. In order to properly synthesize the serotonin, you need sufficient levels of carbohydrates. A lack of carbs may also have a negative effect on the brain activity, and it’s stressful for the whole body. Yes, you will lose weight, but due to loss of liquid, not fat.

7. No snacking
If you are a fan of sandwiches, chips or sweets, you should be aware of the fact that frequent snacking slows down the metabolism. The energy that we get from the food usually lasts for 3 – 4 hours. Then the body starts to consume its proper energy by burning its own fat. The constant snacking prevents the body fat from being burned, and that’s how we gain weight.

8. Use iodized salt
Currently trending sea salt is not a supplement for good old iodized salt. An iodine deficiency adversely affects the thyroid, which, in turn, has a very negative impact on the metabolism.

9. Eat organic
Plants grown with pesticides and synthetic mineral fertilizers, animals fed with antibiotics and growth hormones, nonorganic products made with various additives … It doesn’t sound very tempting, does it? But that’s how most of the things we eat are made. You should start eating wisely!

10. You should keep your iron level up
The iron deficiency leads to muscles lacking oxygen, which generally undermines the health. If you are lacking iron in your diet, you should eat more fish, meat and apples.

11. Stop stressing
Most of the metabolism problems have to do with the inability to cope with the stress. When we are stressed, our thyroid slows down our metabolism, which leads to weight gain.
